About The Position

The HSE Coordinator plays a critical role in strengthening and sustaining an Incident and Injury Free culture across Mattr’s Composite Technologies facilities. This position leads the implementation and continuous improvement of corporate and site-level HSE policies, procedures, and standards. By partnering closely with operations, this role ensures safe working conditions, supports compliance with regulatory requirements, guides employees toward safe behaviors, and reinforces why working safely the right way every time is essential to Mattr’s success.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is an asset.
  • 3 years of experience in a health, safety, and/or environmental role.
  • Understanding of HSE management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Velocity, IFS, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with an approachable style and the ability to identify and address safety issues.
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations, apply corporate standards, and make informed recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing environments is an asset.
  • Forklift certification is a desirable additional skill.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and administer Mattr and Composite Technologies HSE policies, procedures, and standards to promote safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working conditions.
  • Serve as a resource to operations on regulatory compliance, training program development, and incident investigations to maintain an injury‑free culture.
  • Manage and monitor health, safety, and environmental programs including standards, processes, communication, and recordkeeping systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with OH&S, OSHA, WCB, and other regulatory bodies, including maintaining all HSE records and required training documentation.
  • Utilize HSE information management tools (e.g., Velocity, SharePoint, Teams) to trend performance data, identify risks, and support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate environmental compliance activities, including waste minimization, disposal requirements, stormwater pollution control, and ESG initiatives.
  • Lead and support corrective action processes to resolve unsafe conditions or behaviors and immediately stop work when necessary.
  • Mentor employees and collaborate with supervisors to further develop and strengthen the site’s safety culture.
  • Partner with the HSE Manager, Plant Manager, VP HSE, and other HSE support staff through regular communication and collaborative problem‑solving.
  • Travel to alternate sites as required (approximately 20–30%).
