About The Position

Kittitas Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as a Track Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for athletics, a strong understanding of track and field events, and the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. This position will support the head coach in developing athletes' skills, promoting teamwork, and ensuring a positive and competitive environment.

Requirements

  • Previous coaching experience or participation in track and field at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of track and field events, rules, and training techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage student-athletes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the head coach, athletic staff, and school administration.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
  • Availability for afternoon and evening practices, as well as weekend competitions during the track season.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in planning and organizing daily practice sessions and training programs.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to student-athletes in various track and field events, focusing on technique, strategy, and performance improvement.
  • Help monitor and assess athletes' progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Support the head coach in managing team logistics, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes.
  • Assist in the coordination of track meets and competitions, including warm-ups, event management, and athlete readiness.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team events, expectations, and athlete performance.
  • Uphold school policies and promote a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Attend coaching meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
