About The Position

The High School Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes scientific literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The teacher will create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that supports academic growth, inquiry-based learning, and student achievement.

Requirements

  • Certifications Any of the listed certifications are required. Science – Biology 7-12 Science – Chemistry 7-12 Science – General Science 7-12 Science – Physics 7-12
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid Pennsylvania Secondary Teaching Certification in appropriate content area.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scientific content and pedagogy.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AP or honors-level coursework.
  • Experience with project-based or inquiry-based learning.
  • Familiarity with data-driven instruction.
  • Experience integrating educational technology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Pennsylvania Academic Standards and district curriculum.
  • Deliver rigorous, differentiated instruction in assigned science content area(s) (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science).
  • Incorporate laboratory investigations, hands-on experiments, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Integrate technology and real-world applications into instruction.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
  • Analyze student performance data to inform instruction and interventions.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades and student progress.
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.
  • Create a safe laboratory environment that follows all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Promote a positive, equitable, and respectful classroom culture.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in PLCs and department meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
  • Participate in school improvement initiatives and professional development.
  • Work cooperatively with special education staff, counselors, and support personnel.
  • Maintain appropriate certification and professional growth (Act 48 compliance).
  • Follow district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
