Job Outline: Clearwater Central Catholic High School seeks a candidate for a full-time high school IB Theater teaching position for the 2026-2027 school year. An IB Theater Teacher develops and delivers inquiry-based drama curriculum (MYP/DP) focusing on theater theory, history, and performance, while guiding students in creating, designing, and directing original work. Responsibilities include mentoring students through the Internal Assessment (IA) portfolio process, staging school productions, and fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and cultural appreciation. IB Theater often emphasizes a significant amount of writing and research alongside acting and production, requiring teachers to balance performance skills with academic portfolio preparation. The teacher must model the IB Learner Profile.

Requirements

  • Previous experience teaching IB Theatre (specifically HL/SL) and directing high school productions.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Theater, Drama, or Performing Arts.
  • Expertise in theatrical techniques, script analysis, and staging; proficiency in incorporating technology into the curriculum.
  • Passionate educator with strong communication skills, capable of fostering a collaborative, student-centered environment.
  • Successful completion of a level II background screening.
  • Complete all mandated Diocesan trainings (online)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach IB Diploma Program (DP) Theater, covering acting, directing, design, and theory.
  • Guide students through the four IB Theater projects (Directors Notebook, Research Presentation, Collaborative Project, Solo Theater Piece), providing feedback on, and assessment of, written portfolios and performances.
  • Direct and produce school plays, musicals, and student-devised performances, handling casting, staging, and technical elements.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking, creativity, and intellectual growth.
  • Work with the Arts Department on interdisciplinary projects and communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
