About The Position

Serve as the Boys Varsity Head Soccer Coach and Program Director. Strong knowledge of soccer rules, game skills, planning, tactics, and training techniques. Develop, train, and implement training programs to enhance student-athletes skills and knowledge. Monitor student-athletes academic performance to ensure they meet eligibility requirements. Motivate and mentor student-athletes on and off the Field. Schedule a full season of competition including State Tournament games. Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Promote good sportsmanship amongst teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and fans. Cooperate with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to requests for information that might be pertinent and/or periodically required,in a timely manner. Adhere to all requirements mandated by the CPS District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/ Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit. Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative polices set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA. Follow the CPS District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description. Serve as a role model. Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, good sportsmanship, and being respectfull while upholding the disciplines of the program. Maintain an appropriate conduct towards student-athletes, officials, and spectators at all times. Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance. Participate in Clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance. Participate in School events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc. Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes. Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponents. Care and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Fundraising experience.
  • Prior experience coaching soccer, preferably at the high school varsity level.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, techniques, and strategies of the sport.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Ability to work well with coaches, athletic directors, students, and parents.
  • Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the High School and/or College level preferred.
