About The Position

The High School Assistant Principal works cooperatively with the Principal, counselor, nurse, staff, students and parents towards a positive school climate. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the High School Principal to provide proactive leadership that engages all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services that are aligned with the mission of the school. The Assistant Principal ensures that the most effective means for delivering integral formation are being used in the classroom and within all aspects of school programming. He or she reports directly to the High School Principal and serves as a member of the High School administrative team. The Assistant Principal performs the duties of the High School Principal in his/her absence.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Educational field or equivalent (preferred)
  • Excellent teaching and supervisory skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of certified school experience required; experience as a classroom teacher at the applicable level preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processes and procedures relating to select High School events, such as: Assemblies, high school clubs, induction ceremonies, school dances, homecoming week, graduation, and any other events as assigned by the Principal
  • Coordinates, facilitates and implements formative disciplinary intervention processes, working closely with Principal
  • Collaborates with High School principal on development and implementation of parent-student handbooks
  • Ensures that the overall mission of the school is embedded into daily operational protocols
  • In collaboration with Campus Ministry department, develops and implements opportunities for apostolic service for both students and teachers, including but not limited to: Field trips/mission trips, community events, service hour requirements, faculty formation opportunities
  • Assists Admissions department with recruitment of new students, including: Coordination of shadow visits, student panels, family interviews and tours
  • Serve as an active member of the Academic Council
  • Serve as an active member of the Formation Council
  • Works directly with Middle School Administration to implement programs and procedures that ensure effective student transitions to High School life
  • Assists with the onboarding of new faculty members
  • Observes classroom instruction of teachers
  • Assists with selection of curricular resources
  • Provides administrative support to teachers in cases of serious disciplinary infractions
  • Incorporates opportunities for faculty formation and fellowship
  • Orientation of new students
  • Oversees Student Council
  • Oversees student leadership programming; assists in developing programs to promote positive behavior
  • Oversees daily student discipline within the school and communicates regularly with Principal, administrative team and teachers regarding student behavior issues and parent concerns
  • Implements and monitors behavior contracts and student formation plans
  • Oversees student uniform and ensures students are properly attired
  • Oversees student attendance and ensures compliance with state and school regulations
  • Oversees student parking
  • Works with High School administrative team to ensure proper supervision and management at events
  • Collaborates with facilities department to maintain the safety of the campus
  • Arranges and supervises safety drills/events
  • Communicates with parents in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal
