About The Position

The Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Manager at the University of North Carolina at Asheville is responsible for overseeing HRIS operations and staff, ensuring the effective implementation and maintenance of HR technology solutions. This role serves as a subject matter expert, collaborating with IT and university stakeholders to enhance HR systems and applications, while providing advanced technical support and ensuring data integrity. The HRIS Manager will lead projects to support HR strategies and improve service delivery across various HR functions.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience in HR best practices; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.
  • Ability to understand and anticipate HR and organizational HRIS needs, providing solutions to HR issues.
  • Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills for problem-solving.
  • Strong understanding of software development and support methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5-7 years of system management experience, preferably in HR information systems.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing and/or supporting ERP systems, such as Banner HR.
  • Advanced data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with SQL PLUS, PL/SQL, TOAD for Oracle, SSO, Document Management, and electronic forms.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee HRIS operations and staff in the selection, build, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration of HR technology solutions.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for HRIS, providing functional and technical support across various platforms.
  • Collaborate with multiple functional areas and key stakeholders to enhance HR systems and applications.
  • Lead projects to support enhancements, testing, and other technical projects related to HRIS.
  • Ensure efficient and effective reporting and data integrity solutions are developed and implemented to meet HR operational needs.
  • Apply sound judgment and discretion to problem-solve and implement new systems and processes for increased productivity and efficiency.
