About The Position

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting the Human Resources and Distribution team. The HR Specialist performs duties at a professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: benefits, employee relations, recruiting, compliance and payroll. They consult with employees, supervisors and managers related to human resources issues. The position forms partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources or equivalent education/training.
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
  • Must be able to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Attention to detail, organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Responsive to staff needs, including professionalism, respect and consideration of others.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to change in the work environment.
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
  • Strong conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors work to ensure quality.
  • Takes personal responsibility for own actions, keeping commitments and asking for and offering help when needed.
  • Perform highly responsible and complex work independently and accomplish with minimal instruction or in accordance with established procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR)-HRCI preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for employee relations counseling and investigations.
  • Assist with committee facilitation and employee communication.
  • Assist and/or conduct employee development and training.
  • Assist in implementation of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements and reporting.
  • May support employee safety, wellness, and health programs.
  • Assist with benefit enrollments.
  • May conduct new hire onboarding.
  • Responsible for managing time and attendance.
  • May participate in developing HR goals, objectives and processes.
