About The Position

The HR Specialist – Level I is responsible for monitoring, tracking, and documenting employee attendance activity in accordance with Company policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This role performs first-level HR administrative functions related to attendance, timekeeping discrepancies, and policy compliance, and escalates attendance violations to HR Management for review and action.

Requirements

  • College Degree or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of administrative, HR, or date-entry experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Basic understanding of attendance policies and HR procedures.

  • Advanced Data-Entry Ability

  • Coursework or certification in Human Resources (SHRM, HRCI, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Track and monitor employee attendance points, tardiness, call-outs, early departures, and no-call/no-shows in accordance with Company policy and the CBA.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance records within HRIS and internal tracking systems.
  • Identify Level I violations and attendance violations and prepare documentation for HR Manager review.
  • Verify attendance exceptions, including approved leave, medical documentation, jury duty, and other CBA-protected absences.
  • Coordinate with managers to clarify attendance discrepancies prior to escalation.
  • Prepare attendance summaries, reports, and trend analyses for HR leadership.
  • Ensure all attendance documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with Company policy.
  • Assist in compiling documentation related to counseling notices, warnings, or investigations as directed by HR Management.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all employee records and HR documentation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees with questions regarding attendance policy and point balances.
  • Provide clear explanations of attendance policy without interpreting or modifying policy language.
  • Support HR investigations by gathering records and factual data only (no determinations).
  • Escalate attendance issues meeting Level I thresholds to the HR Manager or HR Assistant Manager.
  • Communicate consistently with HR leadership regarding attendance trends or recurring issues.
