About The Position

As an HR Specialist on the NA WTW HR team, you will support the full colleague lifecycle with a strong focus on background check adjudication, compliance, and operational excellence. In this role, you will partner closely with Employee Relations, HR Business Partners, and business leaders to ensure consistent, positive, and compliant colleague experience. The role has the exciting opportunity to grow your HR expertise while supporting critical compliance and operational programs across the organization. This is a full-time remote role and can be affiliated with any U.S. city where WTW has an office.

Requirements

  • 2 - 3 years of HR business experience, including HR Intern, HR Analyst, or similar entry level role
  • Experience within a Human Resources function of an organization that delivers a breadth of HR services to colleagues and managers
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve the effective delivery of HR services through disciplined execution and through fact-based decisions in a growing/changing business environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with customer service orientation
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, experience with HR reporting databases a plus
  • Proven organizational skills, confident with time management
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as part of a virtual team
  • Experience in setting priorities, managing multiple projects, working through some ambiguity
  • Process oriented with strong focus on accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Resourceful, proactive self-starter with the ability to think ahead in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Strongly preferred – Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related area. Prior experience working with a background check vendor (HireRight, Sterling, etc.) is strongly preferred
  • This is an individual contributor role, but previous leadership experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead adjudication of candidate background checks, ensuring compliance with company standards and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Review results, escalate findings to Employee Relations or Legal, and guide candidates through the adjudication process.
  • Prepare and execute adverse action documentation when required.
  • Oversee regulatory updates related to background checks and implement process changes, including SOP creation and training delivery.Work closely with Legal and/or Employee Relations, when appropriate regarding adverse background check findings.
  • Escalate situations on a variety of human resources related issues (i.e., Americans with Disabilities (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), wage and hour, harassment, colleague disputes, etc.) to ensure effective, legally compliant resolutions are established efficiently and within company guidelines.
  • Forecast, plan, and coordinate adjudication workload for peak hiring season.
  • Research and respond to queries in a timely and efficient manner regarding HR programs, policies, or procedures.
  • Provide other support within the HR team to include reporting/trend analysis, compliance activities, workforce reduction activities, onboarding/offboarding activities and maintenance of employee relations templates & process documents.
  • Manage relationships with business leaders and external vendors, acting as an HR partner to support companywide hiring goals.
  • Spearhead efforts to collaborate with internal teams regarding business needs, process updates, and planning for companywide hiring.
  • Have a passion for own development, supported by people manager, and an initiative for sharing ideas for continuous improvement in the function.
