About The Position

Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing cannabis company with multiple retail dispensary locations and headquarters in Hazel Park, Michigan. As the organization continues to expand, they are seeking an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to support daily HR operations and drive people-focused initiatives across all locations. This role will partner closely with leadership to ensure strong employee relations, compliance, talent acquisition, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in supporting multi-site environments within regulated industries.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a multi-location or retail environment
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting employee relations and compliance in regulated environments
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to dispensary locations
  • High level of integrity and discretion
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, specifically Gusto and/or CanopyHR
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the cannabis industry strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers
  • Manage employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and ensure fair and consistent resolution
  • Promote a positive workplace culture across all locations
  • Travel regularly to dispensary locations to provide on-site HR support
  • Partner with store leadership to address workforce challenges and staffing needs
  • Ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures across locations
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for corporate and retail roles
  • Support workforce planning and staffing initiatives
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience
  • Support performance review processes and coach managers on performance-related matters
  • Assist in developing performance improvement plans as needed
  • Coordinate training and professional development initiatives
  • Administer employee benefits programs and serve as liaison with benefit providers
  • Support compensation processes and ensure compliance with applicable laws
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and cannabis industry regulations
  • Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies
  • Support audits and maintain accurate HR documentation
  • Manage HRIS systems and employee records
  • Generate reports and workforce analytics to support leadership decision-making
