The position involves working closely with region management to identify and address organizational gaps, prioritizing and implementing initiatives to close those gaps. The role includes leading efforts to attract, develop, compensate, and retain excellent, committed employees, as well as collaborating with facility leadership on disciplinary issues, investigations, workforce development, and retention. Additionally, the position supports the organization's desire to remain union-free and ensures compliance with HR-related government laws and regulations, including OSHA and state and federal employment laws. The individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining the region's communication strategy and program, which includes an active external community contact program. The role also directs effective workers' compensation programs and requires the ability to work independently to accomplish goals and guide department activities.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of region communication strategy and program, including active external community contact program.
  • Directs effective workers compensation programs.
  • Ability to work independently to accomplish goals, objectives and guide department activities.
  • Minimum college degree in related field, prefer advanced degree.
  • Minimum ten (10) years' broad HR generalist experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of safety management and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience in selection, development, compensation, employee relations and organizational planning.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change.
  • Experience in managing multiple human resource functions.
  • Prefer field experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to represent Boise Cascade to appropriate audiences, including government and legal agencies, and all levels of region, division and corporate.
  • Must be customer oriented with high level of drive and motivation.
  • Ability to respond to customer needs with a sense of immediacy.
  • Prefer SPHR or PHR certification.
