About The Position

Under direction, this position is responsible for creating, updating and applying all HR policies and company guidelines and making sure they adhere to standards and laws initiated by authorities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources.
  • 3-5 years of human resources experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of an HRIS such as BambooHR is a plus.
  • Professional certification such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and participates in all steps relating to hiring new employees. Beginning with developing job posts, setting up interviews, participating in the interviews and providing support to management as needed throughout the entire hiring process.
  • Manage the onboarding and orientation process through the BambooHR software.
  • Prepare new hire orientation, including benefits, payroll processing, employee handbook and compliance related information.
  • Process all new hire information into appropriate HRIS software and payroll systems.
  • Assist with job evaluations, including job classifications, and up-to-date job descriptions.
  • Assist with developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures.
  • Provides assistance to employees with questions related to policies and/or procedures.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining pay scales for all positions.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state laws to ensure compliance with all federal and state requirements in relation to employment law.
  • Assist Director with compliance of items such as EEO and VETS Reporting, Non-Discrimination Testing, and portions of the Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Assist Director with working with managers and employees to carry out their responsibilities as it pertains to personnel matters.
  • Maintains and uploads all employee records including salary data, payroll records, personnel records all housed electronically within the HRIS software. Maintain physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records.
  • Compiles data for salary survey participation and review results for accuracy.
  • Assist with annual performance evaluation process.
  • Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, enrollment and change reporting through payroll system and insurance provider. Acts as a liaison between the benefit program providers and the employee as requested.
  • Maintains unemployment claims file and responds to information requested.
  • Bring forward to the Director any recommendations for added efficiencies to make improvements in our HR work and services we provide.
  • Provide assistance with union negotiations, development of company bargaining proposals, and analyzing union demands. Obtains and prepares cost data for company and union proposals and final settlements. Participate in ongoing meetings between management and bargaining employees.
  • Administers COBRA process.
  • Assist with employee relations as needed.
  • Interact frequently with payroll department to ensure communication flows back and forth between the two departments for clarity and accuracy of employee records.
  • Maintain Workforce Safety and Insurance reporting of claims and tracking on all employees.
  • Assist with the Workforce Safety and Insurance Safety Management Program.
  • Maintain DOT physicals and requirements on employees.
