About The Position

Serving two primary markets – passenger vehicle and commercial truck – Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.Job PurposeThe HR Generalist is responsible for labor relations & HR activities in a manufacturing environment.  You will perform administrative functions as required to support salary & hourly employees.  You maintain personnel records & complete transactions.  You investigate & resolve issues.  You administer & provide guidance to Operations team on the provisions of the Global & Local Agreements.  You participate in strategic workforce planning, hiring events, onboarding & orientation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-5 years’ HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Education minimum of a 4-year degree (BA or BS) in applicable area or education & experience equivalent.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills.
  • Strong team building & people skills including the ability to resolve conflicting interests & obtain cooperation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills & ability to easily build credibility with internal customers & associates.
  • Organizational skills – ability to manage high workload of data & multitask proficiently.
  • Honest / Integrity; must be role model for others in organization.
  • Proficiency in Windows environment, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Background in labor relations strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP or other HR systems experience a plus.
  • ADP Payroll processing experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Builds & maintains relationship with Staff & Operations Team, Union Leadership & hourly employees.
  • Administer provisions of Agreements & counsel Management in the interpretation of Agreements.
  • Administration of policies & work rules.
  • Advise Management on matters related to Union-Management relationships/issues.
  • Complete & support payroll process.
  • Maintain records pertinent to labor relations & hourly personnel.
  • Preparation & participation in local negotiations.
  • Investigation of grievances & assist Management with resolution
  • Conduct & advise Management on corrective discipline including coaching & progressive discipline.
  • Participate in on-boarding, orientation, transfer, exit, & assignment changes for both hourly & salary employees.
  • Respond to day-to-day employee inquiries & requests.
  • Generate HR analytical reports & metrics using HRIS system.
  • Conduct training on HR topics
  • Manages FMLA process to include tracking of time & follow-up with employees.
  • Participate & support EEOC, NLRB, Metro, etc inquiries, investigations
  • Maintains compliance with federal & state regulations concerning employment.
  • Assist with workplace investigations & issue discipline when deemed necessary.
  • Assist with bargained positions job postings, job bidding process including candidates’ suitability for position. Provides notification of successful bidder(s) to union, employees, & management.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
