About The Position

Apex is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Generalist to support a wide range of human resources functions. This position will focus heavily on employee relations, HRIS management, employee and manager support, and a robust onboarding program. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach to HR, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build trust across teams at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in field-based or industrial environments such as waste, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, payroll, and leave administration.
  • Experience with onboarding and HRIS platforms required; ADP a plus
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, balance multiple tasks, and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent HR certification preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key resource for employees and managers on HR-related inquiries and workplace concerns.
  • Promote a positive, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Support performance management processes and guide managers on corrective action and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct investigations and recommend outcomes in partnership with HR leadership.
  • Own and manage the entire onboarding experience—from offer acceptance through the first 90 days.
  • Develop and deliver onboarding programs to ensure seamless integration of new hires into the company culture, operations, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with operations, safety, IT, and benefits to ensure readiness and alignment for each new hire.
  • Track and improve onboarding metrics such as early engagement, retention, and time-to-productivity.
  • Serve as a backup and provide occasional support to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain HRIS systems and ensure data integrity for employee records, compensation changes, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with third party administrator to manage leave programs including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific regulations.
  • Facilitate return-to-work processes and accommodations in partnership with safety and operations.
  • Assist the Talent Advisor during periods of high-volume recruitment by screening candidates and coordinating interviews.
  • Assist with employment verifications and offer letter preparation as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Maintain personnel files and support audit and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support company-wide training initiatives including compliance, leadership development, and other HR related trainings.
