About The Position

The HR Generalist at Vassar College plays a crucial role in supporting daily HR processes and enhancing the employee experience. This position involves managing transactions within the Human Resources Information System throughout the employment life cycle, while also recommending improvements to HR processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2+ years of experience in human resources or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective task prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate HR policies and procedures to diverse audiences.
  • Fluency in using various technological systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in human resources or a related field.
  • SHRM Certification or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with payroll or finance processes.
  • Experience with Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Apply existing practices and procedures to process accurate HR transactions throughout the employment life cycle.
  • Serve as a point of contact for HR process and transaction inquiries, including Workday user questions.
  • Troubleshoot system errors in collaboration with payroll, finance, and IT partners.
  • Conduct analysis and recommend system and process improvements to enhance employee experience and effectiveness.
  • Support the performance review process by initiating review cycles and assessing engagement.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, surveys, reports, and employee files.
  • Assist in HR events, initiatives, and functions in collaboration with the HR team.
