About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist will partner with hiring managers, department leaders, and search committees to facilitate effective and compliant hiring processes. In additional to recruitment coordination, this position supports employee benefits administration, including tuition and retirement benefits, as well as general HR functions. This role ensures adherence to institutional policies and applicable employment regulations.

  • Strong technical skills with a good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook and previous experience of working with an HRIS is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent
  • 5+ years of human resources and/or talent acquisition management experience preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience specifically within a Higher Education environment.
  • Familiarity with institutional governance and Title IX compliance standards
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers and search committees to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with hiring managers, search committees and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
  • Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes
  • Administer employee tuition benefit programs, including eligibility tracking and communication
  • Provide general HR support across functional areas
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
