About The Position

Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Supervises human resources functions, including compensation, benefits, recruitment, transactions, operations and employee relations in support of an organization. Develops and implements personnel policies consistent with overall agency objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED AND seven (7) years of professional human resource experience, which includes three (3) years in a lead worker, team leader, or supervisory role;
  • One (1) year of experience required at the lower-level HR Generalist 4 (HRP014) or position equivalent.
  • Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
  • A valid Georgia driver's license is required and must be maintained while employed in this position. Non-Georgia residents must have a recognized equivalent license.
  • Extensive experience in dealing with customers with courtesy and professionalism
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Experience working cooperatively as a team member
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to provide professional oral communication information to external customers, supervisors, co-workers; by telephone, or in person
  • Ability to communicate via computer e-mail
  • Experience in handling and maintaining confidential information
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written and electronic documents

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) or more years of prior professional level work experience in HR for a state agency, local government, or federal agency, and
  • Three (3) or more years of experience using PeopleSoft, and, Microsoft Office Suite, and
  • Three (3) or more years of experience handling ADA, FMLA and Workers' Compensation

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff in appropriately processing employee benefits, personnel transactions, and recruitment.
  • Oversee the administration of the agency drug testing program.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures and laws, including State and Federal laws such as ADAAA and Family Medical Leave.
  • Coordinates development and revision of agency policy using PowerDMS.
  • Interact with staff and applicants in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personnel documents, files and other types of paperwork.
