About The Position

The HR Generalist at the College of Education and Human Development is responsible for managing a variety of complex human resources functions under the supervision of the College HR Director. This role involves supporting recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and process development for over 300 employees across two academic units and seven centers. The position requires independent judgment and the handling of highly confidential matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or human resources with 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Professional HR Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze data and present reporting data and solutions.
  • Proficiency in advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and safeguard confidential information.
  • Effective customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Predictive Index analyst is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Manage recruitment activities for all benefited and non-benefited staff, including search approvals and job descriptions.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for all non-benefited College employees.
  • Act as the point of contact for payroll and personnel records questions, investigating issues and providing resolutions.
  • Manage HR and payroll transactions, ensuring data integrity of employee records.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with ACA regulations and interact with supervisors and the Financial Services Unit.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director and Compensation team on salary recommendations and pay equity.
  • Track sabbatical leave requests and manage pay distributions.
  • Administer various types of leave such as FMLA and Worker's Compensation, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews, providing feedback to the HR Director.
  • Manage work authorization processes for foreign national employees, staying current on federal guidelines.
  • Deliver training and support for multiple UD systems and manage background clearances for employees working with minors.
  • Create and document HR-related processes and participate in the review and development of operating procedures.
