About The Position

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with primary seafood processing operations and fleet support in twelve Alaska communities. Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries. Trident employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide each year and partners with over 5,400 independent fishermen and crewmembers. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide. The HR Coordinator is the first point of contact for HR-related queries from employees and external partners. This role is responsible for HR-related data entry, administering policies related to human resources activities and will work collaboratively with the HR Manager and Plant supervisors/managers to ensure the HR function is meeting the needs of Trident Seafoods. Note: Effective 1 December 2024, HR Coordinator residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of $15 per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.

Requirements

  • Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before.
  • Two-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience in Human Resource role and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in a second language required; Spanish.
  • Knowledge of applicable HR laws on a county, state, and national level.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task as well as organize and prioritize work tasks.
  • Ability to work overtime required, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Routes and/or responds to incoming calls, visitors, emails, and physical mail appropriately in English and Spanish.
  • Assists in scheduling on-site interviews with the Support Center Talent Acquisition team while supporting the coordination of on-site Temp labor.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientations in conjunction with the HR Manager.
  • Responsible for physical and digital recordkeeping of employee records at the plant.
  • Works directly with plant management to ensure compliance with company procedures for terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Assists with internal investigations, employee surveys, and helps conduct exit interviews.
  • Processes employee timecards, payroll reports/submissions, and vacation requests to ensure timely submission to the corporate Payroll Department.
  • Creates, activates, and maintains employee ID badges and security fobs.
  • Supports the office administrative functionality and security gate (supplies, inventory, outside correspondence, security gate access fobs, visitors, deliveries, etc.)
  • Follows plant food safety policies and industry best practices.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
