About The Position

The HR Consultant partners with leadership in a fast-paced sheet metal manufacturing environment to provide strategic and hands-on human resources support. This role ensures compliance, strengthens workforce engagement, supports skilled trades recruitment, and aligns HR initiatives with operational goals including production efficiency, safety, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience supporting manufacturing operations and understands the unique workforce dynamics of production teams, skilled technicians, and compliance-driven environments (e.g., aerospace, defense, or precision metal fabrication).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting hourly and skilled trade workforces.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and coaching skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication, aerospace manufacturing, or precision metal industries.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO-certified environments.
  • Experience in ITAR-compliant workplaces.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Plant Managers, Production Supervisors, and Executive Leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives.
  • Advise on workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning.
  • Support change management initiatives related to growth, restructuring, or process improvements.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for skilled positions such as Press Brake Operators, Welders, CNC Machinists, Quality Inspectors, and Assembly Technicians.
  • Develop talent pipelines for high-demand manufacturing roles.
  • Support onboarding programs tailored to production and safety requirements.
  • Provide guidance on performance management, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct investigations related to employee complaints, policy violations, or workplace concerns.
  • Promote a positive and productive work culture across shop floor and administrative teams.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain adherence to OSHA safety standards and applicable industry regulations (e.g., ITAR if applicable).
  • Update and implement HR policies and employee handbook materials.
  • Support compensation benchmarking for manufacturing roles.
  • Assist with wage analysis, overtime compliance, and incentive programs.
  • Guide leadership on pay structures aligned with skilled labor market trends.
  • Identify training needs for technical skill development and leadership growth.
  • Coordinate safety training and compliance-related programs.
  • Support performance review processes and employee development plans.
  • Analyze turnover, absenteeism, productivity trends, and hiring metrics.
  • Provide leadership with data-driven recommendations for workforce improvements.
