About The Position

The HR Compliance Coordinator is responsible for facilitating compliance of the I-9 process, procedures, and documentation. This role involves following up with new hires, verification, and expiration dates, and is instrumental in working alongside frontline production employees. The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn and become a trusted partner to both production employees and the HR team. The HR Compliance Coordinator ensures that all human resource policies, procedures, and practices align with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as industry-specific regulations. This role works closely with HR, Safety, and Operations to maintain compliance with labor laws, food industry workforce standards, and company policies while supporting audits, documentation, and training initiatives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in food manufacturing or food service industry
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Bilingual required (Spanish and/or Creole)
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Facilitation and creation of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, charts, graphs for reporting purposes
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and ethical standards in various situations

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics of hiring days, recruitment compliance, onboarding, and offboarding processes
  • Assist the VP of Human Resources and managers with the hiring process, including submitting I-9 documents
  • Process I-9 employment verification by gathering necessary documentation and inputting identification information into the E-Verify system
  • Validate new hire identification to confirm eligibility for employment
  • Set up and maintain employee files and HR information system records for external audits
  • Monitor employee compliance by tracking document expiration dates and processing notification letters
  • Support HR investigations into employee complaints, policy violations, or compliance issues
  • Track Employment Authorization cards and process new cards accordingly
  • Coordinate with hiring managers for employee authorization once cleared from E-verify
  • Work alongside Payroll Clerk to make corrections in Data Track daily
  • Enter Direct Deposits, W-4’s, Terminations in the HRIS system
  • Process Crew Leader payroll weekly for multiple states
  • Maintain PTO database for days and hours owed in HRIS system
  • Print badges as needed for plant locations
  • Provide general administrative support for the human resource department
  • Coordinate compliance-related training for managers and employees
  • Serve as the liaison to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the VP of HR, and the payroll department
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Prepare and maintain required compliance documentation for audits
  • Stay current on legislation affecting the food industry workforce
  • Assist in creating HR metrics and evaluation reports
  • Perform all other related job responsibilities as directed by the Executive Director of Food Safety and Compliance
