About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual to join the HR Administrative Services team. This position involves responding to routine and non-routine requests for employment and salary verification, processing Unemployment Insurance requests, and assisting with various HR compliance and employee records projects. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to coordinate with multiple departments to ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to routine and non-routine requests for employment and salary verifications.
  • Directs requests to The Work Number where appropriate.
  • Handles requests from legal offices, government agencies, and law enforcement when automated systems cannot be used.
  • Makes copies of records for subpoena requests and insurance claims.
  • Coordinates with total rewards, payroll, and legal departments as needed.
  • Processes all Unemployment Insurance requests from New York and other states.
  • Reviews records and provides documentation regarding reasons for termination to the State.
  • Works with HR Business Partners to gather information about terminations.
  • Prepares internal University of Rochester witnesses for UI hearings.
  • Logs information into NY State SIDES system.
  • Generates reports on unemployment trends and costs.
  • Assists with audits and file clerk functions for employee records.
  • Supports the office by filling in for other staff as needed.
  • Participates in other projects or administrative duties as delegated by supervisor.
