About The Position

As a Human Resources Assistant (Employee Benefits), you will provide technical and administrative support for the Retirement and Benefits Team within the Department of the Treasury. This role involves assisting with the development, update, and administration of the agency's retirement and benefits programs, requiring a solid understanding of human resources operations, particularly in personnel action and retirement processing.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level, NB-III or GS-7, in the Federal service.
  • Experience assisting with advisory services on employee benefits programs including health and welfare programs, life insurance, dental/vision, flexible spending accounts, disability insurance, and wellness programs.
  • Researching policies, rules, or regulations related to employee benefits.
  • One full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with federal employee benefits programs.
  • Knowledge of personnel action processing systems such as NFC and PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

  • Provide human resource support in the development, update, and administration of the agency's retirement and benefits programs.
  • Provide technical guidance to agency employees regarding benefit programs including health, life, retirement, dental, vision, and Flex Fund.
  • Research and analyze client issues and problems, recommending workable solutions and strategies.
  • Collaborate with various human resources and operational staff to identify and resolve issues related to retirement and benefits.
  • Prepare all personnel actions for processing in the NFC and PeopleSoft systems and input data to produce the SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action.
