About The Position

HPC Storage Engineers are core to KLA’s technology, while we do not currently have an opening, we are always building our HPC Storage Engineering talent community, we are interested in learning about your background. Apply to this posting for Future Opportunities with KLA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing or supporting HPC storage systems.
  • Strong experience with parallel and distributed storage architectures.
  • Deep understanding of storage performance (latency, bandwidth, IOPS, metadata).
  • Experience delivering storage solutions for long‑lifecycle or productized environments.
  • Ability to work across hardware, software, and infrastructure teams.
  • High‑performance and distributed storage systems.
  • Parallel file systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS, or equivalent).
  • NVMe‑based storage, high‑bandwidth interconnects, RAID, and data‑protection strategies.
  • Linux systems performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • HPC networking concepts (high‑speed fabrics; RDMA preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience shipping storage solutions as part of commercial products.
  • Familiarity with HPC clusters, schedulers, and compute/storage co‑design.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes or containerized environments with performance‑critical storage.
  • Background in semiconductor, manufacturing, or high‑reliability engineering environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and architect high‑performance storage solutions for HPC workloads integrated into shipped KLA tools.
  • Own storage design tradeoffs across performance, reliability, cost, serviceability, and lifecycle.
  • Define storage requirements early in the product lifecycle and support NPI through production ramp.
  • Develop and execute performance benchmarks aligned to real engineering workloads; analyze I/O patterns and tune storage stacks for throughput, latency, and reliability.
  • Partner with product engineering, HPC architects, hardware teams, and Corporate IT to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
  • Support hardware qualification, EOL transitions, and requalification of storage components.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to CSIG design standards and best practices.

Benefits

  • KLA’s total rewards package for employees may also include participation in performance incentive programs and eligibility for additional benefits including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, life, and other voluntary benefits, 401(K) including company matching, employee stock purchase program (ESPP), student debt assistance, tuition reimbursement program, development and career growth opportunities and programs, financial planning benefits, wellness benefits including an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off and paid company holidays, and family care and bonding leave.
