We're looking for a passionate and experienced Senior HPC Operations Manager to lead our talented team supporting the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) Division at Ames. Requirements

  • A minimum of a B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in government contracting, managing large teams of 20+ and providing mentorship to technical groups and individuals.
  • 7 years of experience working with High-Performance Computing (HPC) hardware, software, and monitoring technologies
  • Demonstrated experience managing large projects using various industry best practices
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale production systems
  • Excellent communication/people, time management, and organizational skills
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in technical writing

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • A minimum of 10 years as a government contractor

Responsibilities

  • Create and foster partnerships with HPC research at NASA, leverage technical background to recommend the design and development of HPC research products, and review operating metrics to direct the resolution of operational and maintenance problems
  • Drive operational work through various ticketing and work-tracking tools
  • Manage HPC systems compliance ensuring the HPC systems maintain their Authority to Operate (ATO) annually
  • Work regularly with vendors to evaluate and procure new technologies
  • Manage a team of ~20 HPC systems administrators/engineers and subcontractors to support all HPC systems in a 24x7 operational environment
  • Staff Management: Hire, develop, and coach staff to ensure project and team success
  • Project Management: Provide project management of informal to formal projects, ensuring on-time, on-scope, and on-budget delivery
  • Act as the primary customer interface to NASA Civil Servant contract task requesters
  • Manage and ensure high-quality delivery of contract deliverables
