About The Position

The Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) is a Nonprofit that assists homeless individuals, adults, and youth with clinical needs and permanent housing. MIRCI is continuing to improve opportunities for the homeless in the Midlands and surrounding areas and is seeking a Housing Support Specialist. Job Function: Under the general supervision of the Housing Director, the Housing Support Specialist organizes and maintains assigned areas of the supportive housing program. Assist participants in complying with tenant responsibilities outlined by the agency and/or properties leased by MIRCI. Employee Classification: Considered a regular, full-time, non-exempt position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of agency programs.
  • Working knowledge of HUD occupancy standards.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to perform duties in a timely manner and adherence to requested deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job-related field and 1 or more years of job-related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job-related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
  • Must have a valid SC driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must be certifiable in defensive driving and Standard CPR/1st-Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct move-ins/move-outs (paperwork), interims (due to income changes), and annual recertifications (in conjunction with lease renewals).
  • Complete move-in inspection of unit.
  • Purchase items for new move-ins (Walmart, Dollar General, etc.).
  • Coordinate resident moves (supervise movers).
  • Maintain housing records (paper files, HMIS, electronic tracking schedule).
  • Assist with the processing of rental/utilities payments from HomeBase clients throughout the month.
  • Track maintenance requests sent to properties, and inspect maintenance issues for resolution.
  • Conduct inspections of all units, at least quarterly.
  • Maintain spare apartment and storage unit keys.
  • Maintain furniture inventory listing.
  • Coordinate maintenance service as needed during after-hours (weekends and evenings) rotation.
  • Communicate and report in a timely manner all issues, concerns, or incidents to supervisory personnel.
  • Complete the required written documentation related to critical incidents promptly.
