About The Position

Assist low-income individuals and families, which include persons living with HIV, homeless, disabled, minority group members and single parents, to secure permanent, affordable housing and provide case management services with the goal of an improved quality of life and self-sufficiency. Serves as liaison between community agencies, landlords, business and industry. Responsible for program administration, including reporting to funding sources.

Requirements

  • BA and one year of experience or equivalent training or 4 years of experience in human services.
  • The ability to assess client needs and initiate referrals to meet these needs; and utilize counseling and interviewing techniques effective in working with economically and socially disadvantaged individuals and families are required.
  • Manager must act as a liaison with other community agencies on behalf of the MRT Supportive Housing Program.
  • The ability to motivate clients to develop and pursue personal goals, which will enable them to become personally and economically self-sufficient.
  • The Manager must be an advocate, facilitator, referral source and counselor; and must be able to perform Housing Assistance Certifications.
  • Basic arithmetic skills, computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft product suite are required.
  • Position requires automobile, driver’s license and insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Study information so as to determine, define, and comprehend its elements, including conducting interviews to determine program eligibility and appropriate referral sources.
  • Gather statistical and inferential information and compile reports to funding sources, maintain all required records, and prepare all required reports.
  • Apply advanced communication skills in areas of interviewing, interpretation, persuasion, conflict resolution, authorization, arbitration, written and verbal communication.
  • Articulate and describe the program guidelines and other available housing services.
  • Select methodology (at times not obvious options) to assist clients in deciding the best course of action to reach self-sufficiency goals.
  • Receive and screen applications for admittance to MRT Supportive Housing Program. Ensure program compliance of participants.
  • Follow Program policies and procedures. If procedures do not meet program needs, a new approach is to be created.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships for collaboration with other agencies.
  • Develop procedures and program components to fulfill program guidelines.
  • Position is responsible to: Maintain all required records; and the preparation of required reports. Coordinate services.
  • Perform home visits.
  • Promote awareness of PathStone programs through public speaking; act as liaison between community agencies and PathStone; advocate on behalf of clients with landlords; educate clients about their program rights; refer clients to appropriate community agencies.
