Position Summary: The Housing Specialist will lead the implementation of the RSS Extended Cultural Orientation program while also providing direct housing support to refugees and other ORR-eligible immigrants who are experiencing housing insecurity. This dual-role position is designed to empower refugees who have been in the U.S. for more than 90 days by expanding their knowledge of critical systems and providing personalized housing interventions. The goal is to promote long-term self-sufficiency and successful integration into the Louisville community.

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study preferred.
  • Work Experience: Relevant professional experience in human services with a minimum of 2 years of experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated Skills & Competencies: Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design of the extended cultural orientation
  • Assist with outreach efforts to invite clients to participate in the extended cultural orientation training.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the extended cultural orientation classes delivery, including but not limited to inviting clients to participate, scheduling interpreters, etc.
  • Conduct assessment and follow up with clients to ensure
  • Conduct outreach and enroll families in the housing
  • Conduct intake assessment and enrollment of new clients in the program.
  • Assist families in addressing their housing needs based on the service plan.
  • Conduct ongoing outreach to housing partners and maintain close relationships to increase access to housing for refugee families.
  • Assist with the recruitment and training of volunteers or interns.
  • Other duties as assigned.
