About The Position

This position will service participants in assisting low-income families and individuals, who may include homeless, elderly or disabled, to secure affordable housing and improved living conditions with the goal of an improved quality of life and self-sufficiency. Responsible for Determining eligibility and processing applications accurately. Essential duties include (but are not limited to): Interview Housing Choice applicants/participants to obtain all necessary documentation and complete files as required. Ensure all required information is compiled and maintained in the applicant/participant file. Determine eligibility and/or ineligibility, verifies data, processes application, issues voucher, and conduct home visits, if necessary. Assist client with inquiries and/or problems concerning their housing needs; provide direction regarding responses and resolutions to client inquiries. Provide landlord interface assistance to include but not limited to abatement and inspections. Investigate client issues requiring expertise in determining causes; to include inquires of potential fraud and misuse of funding; suggest and direct action plan for resolutions. All additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree PLUS one (1) year of previous experience working with the public in a Housing Choice Voucher Program or similar relevant experience.
  • High School diploma plus a minimum of four (4) years’ experience working with economically and socially disadvantaged individuals and/or families in a similar capacity.
  • Proficiency with current office technology and software applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in an office environment is a plus.
