About The Position
Abode Services, one of the largest and most effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Housing Specialist for our programs in Alameda County. The Housing Specialist plays a crucial role in locating housing units, working closely with landlords, collaborating with service providers, and providing general housing support to ensure that homeless individuals and/or families can secure and maintain housing. This position is vital in helping participants navigate the housing market and overcome barriers to housing stability. As a Housing Specialist, you will provide housing placement and assistance tailored to the needs and goals of participants. This includes conducting housing searches, networking with landlords and property management businesses, assisting with lease approvals, and ensuring compliance with housing regulations. You will also play a key role in providing move-in support, conducting housing quality inspections, and maintaining ongoing contact with participants to monitor their progress and address any issues that arise after housing is secured. Your expertise will be essential in conflict resolution and problem-solving, ensuring that all regulatory agreements and fair housing laws are adhered to.
