About The Position

The Franklin County Regional Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) is dedicated to serving the housing and community development needs of the twenty-six towns in Franklin County, Massachusetts. The Housing Search Specialist plays a crucial role in this mission by assisting low-income families and individuals in obtaining and retaining decent, affordable housing. This position operates within the framework of the Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC), which aims to help local residents navigate the complexities of housing resources available to them. In this role, the Housing Search Specialist will work closely with clients to assess their housing needs and develop individualized service plans that include both short-term and long-term goals aimed at achieving stable and affordable housing. The specialist will coordinate with various service providers, landlords, and housing programs to identify and mitigate barriers that clients may face in their housing search. This includes discussing sensitive topics such as criminal, credit, and eviction histories, and reviewing relevant documentation with clients to strategize effectively against housing denials. The position also involves facilitating housing search workshops, providing application assistance, and maintaining open lines of communication with housing authorities and private management companies. Regular updates on project status and client interactions will be communicated to the Program Director, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed. Additionally, the Housing Search Specialist will assist in outreach efforts targeting families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing initial information and referral services to those seeking assistance through the HCEC. Data management is also a key component of this role, requiring the maintenance of detailed case records and an understanding of current housing regulations and policies.
