Community Interface Services: Our Mission Community Interface Services is a non-profit organization that has empowered adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1983. Our mission is to provide quality, individualized, community-based support and training in employment, housing, community living, and other related services. A DAY IN THE LIFE As a Housing Resource Counselor at Community Interface Services, you will have the opportunity to work closely with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, empowering them to live independently. Your role will involve providing tailored support to help clients develop essential household management skills, including cleaning, cooking, budgeting, and maintaining their health and safety. You will also assist these individuals in connecting with valuable community resources and assistance programs, ensuring they have access to the support needed for a fulfilling life. By fostering independence and self-sufficiency, you will play a crucial part in enhancing the quality of life for those in the nonprofit social services sector. What you need to be successful To succeed as a Housing Resource Counselor at Community Interface Services, candidates must possess a diverse skill set that aligns with our commitment to excellence in nonprofit social services. Problem-solving skills are essential, enabling you to navigate challenges and provide effective solutions tailored to each individual’s needs. A solid knowledge of assistance and housing resources is crucial to connecting clients with appropriate support. While a high school diploma is required, a bachelor’s degree is preferred, showcasing your commitment to personal and professional growth. Additionally, a valid California driver’s license, along with a minimum of two years of driving experience and valid auto insurance, will be necessary for making community visits and supporting clients’ needs effectively. Your ability to communicate clearly and empathetically will further enhance your effectiveness in this vital role.
