About The Position

If you’ve worked in building trades, facilities maintenance, or residential construction, you may be an excellent fit — even if you’ve never worked in inspections before. What You’ll Do In this role, you’ll put your real-world building and repair knowledge to work by: Inspecting housing units to ensure they meet HUD’s Housing Quality Standards Checking for safety hazards, code issues, and lead-based paint compliance Identifying repairs needed and determining whether they’re the responsibility of the owner or tenant Communicating inspection results clearly and professionally Completing inspection reports and maintaining accurate records Working closely with Housing Specialists and Rental Analysis teams Providing monthly updates and inspection trends to the Supervisor Your work helps families live in safe, healthy homes — and helps property owners stay compliant.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience working with the public
  • Experience working with diverse groups
  • Experience in construction, property maintenance, or low-income housing preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree OR three (3) years equivalent experience in housing inspections or fieldwork
  • Ability to spot structural, mechanical, and safety issues
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfort working independently and managing multiple inspections
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office proficiency a plus)
  • Sound judgment, integrity, and respect for diverse communities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to write clear, accurate reports
  • Must obtain CVR Housing Choice Voucher Proficiency certification within 90 days (we provide training). Additional seminars and training as required.

Responsibilities
