About The Position

The Housing Maintenance Technician reports to the Housing Maintenance Foreman and is responsible for performing a wide range of general maintenance tasks to support the upkeep of university-managed residence halls and apartments. Duties include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and minor masonry repairs, as well as maintaining clean and safe work areas. The role requires adherence to safety standards, the ability to use job-related tools and equipment, and collaboration with supervisors to identify and address maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with proficiency in grammar, spelling, basic composition, and mathematics.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, US driver’s license. In some instances, a valid Class C (CDL) license may be required. Must meet the University’s standards for approved drivers.
  • Strong analytical skills with in-depth knowledge of information systems and technical proficiency with Microsoft operating systems.
  • General understanding of hazardous chemicals and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to read blueprints, perform simple calculations, and maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency in using job-related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and finishes.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders and/or scaffolding; and working in overhead areas.
  • Must possess normal vision, hearing, and physical dexterity, with strong eye-hand coordination for the safe operation of power tools and equipment.
  • One to three years of related work experience.
