About The Position

The Housing Inspection Assistant (HIA) is a seasonal summer position designed to support the efficiency and accuracy of turnover operations across all residential facilities. This role focuses on room inspections, readiness verifications, and quality control following cleaning, painting, and flooring work. The HIAs identify issues and ensure rooms are prepared according to schedule and company standards. This position is essential for maintaining consistency, accelerating turnover workflow, and ensuring a smooth and timely move-in process.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and some related work experience preferred.
  • Must be enrolled in a local university and be in good academic standing.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to identify issues, inconsistencies, or missed work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and professional demeanor.
  • Must be proactive, punctual, self-directed, highly motivated, and possess skills in time management to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, OneDrive, and digital reporting tools.
  • Incumbents may be required to perform physical actions such as bending, stooping, crawling, and work in other positions necessary to accomplish the installation of computer systems and equipment.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to fifty (50) pounds independently and one hundred (100) pounds with assistance.
  • Routine, local travel between assigned areas and other departmental facilities.
  • Ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs, especially in cases of emergencies.
  • Incumbents must be able to view computer screens and other electronic equipment, paper reports, and journals for extended periods of time where visual strain may result.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in facilities, operations, customer service, or property management is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect units after cleaning, painting, flooring, and other turnover work to verify completion and quality.
  • Document deficiencies or incomplete work and report issues promptly to the appropriate team.
  • Ensure consistency across all residential facilities by following structured inspection guidelines.
  • Support the turnover process by identifying issues early to minimize delays in unit re-leasing.
  • Track progress across units and update shared logs, reports, or dashboards as directed.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams, vendors, and student staff to resolve issues and maintain timelines.
  • Follow all company safety standards and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain positive, professional communication with team members and vendors.
  • Complete required training and follow all departmental procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including occasional overtime when necessary.
