About the position

Responsible for maximizing guests' experience through cleaning and maintaining all public areas in the hotel, as well as assigned public space, guest rooms and office space throughout the hotel.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet shampoo machine
  • Cleans rooms, hallways and restrooms
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floor
  • Collects soiled linen for laundering
  • Receives linen supplies
  • Maintains housekeeping carts
  • Removes trash collected by room attendants
  • Walks all assigned floors at beginning and end of shift to collect newspaper bags, newspapers, trash, and solid linen
  • Picks up clean linen and refills the par stock of linen on each floor pantry
  • Delivers towels, cribs, cots and other items to the guest rooms on requests
  • Sorts linen, stocks room attendant closets
  • Cleans all public areas in the prescribed manner while following department standard operating procedures
  • Removes soiled linen and trash from the pool side and other service area and takes to appropriate locations in the prescribed manner
  • Answers the telephones and dispatches all requests by making work orders and ensuring all guest and employee requests are fulfilled
  • Pages all employees for work orders or messages
  • Inspects all equipment and reports any problems to appropriate personnel
  • Follows the ABC’s of Housekeeping guidelines
  • Uses proper PPE’s and ensures adequate safety and protection when handling chemicals
  • Maintains safety and cleanliness of work area
  • Interacts in courteous and professional manner with guests and hotel staff
  • Attends to guests' requests or complaints when possible and appropriate

Requirements

  • Ability to focus and maintain attention to performance of tasks despite frequent stressful, emergency, critical or unusual interruptions
  • Ability to memorize, recollect and quickly retrieve dates, names, times and other data
  • Ability to converse calmly with irate guests, superiors and subordinates in sometimes intense emotional situations
  • Ability to answer phones quickly, clearly and professionally
  • Ability to maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to interpret and comply with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form
  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions, make decisions with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to engage in continuous cleaning activities for extended periods of time

Nice-to-haves

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain BT-A Certification during employment
  • May be required to obtain a forklift license
