About The Position

The Groundskeeper / Houseperson is primarily responsible for maintaining the exterior grounds, landscaping, and outdoor public areas of the hotel to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. This position also supports the Housekeeping department by maintaining interior public spaces and assisting with any operational needs as required. This role is essential to preserving property standards, ensuring safety, and supporting overall guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, housekeeping, or general maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping equipment and safety procedures preferred.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain landscaped areas, lawns, walkways, parking areas, pool surroundings, and exterior public spaces.
  • Perform routine landscaping duties including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, planting, and watering.
  • Remove trash, debris, leaves, and fallen branches from property grounds daily.
  • Inspect exterior areas for safety hazards and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Monitor irrigation systems and notify management of malfunctions.
  • Maintain outdoor furniture, signage, and guest-facing exterior elements in clean and orderly condition.
  • Support storm preparation and post-storm cleanup efforts.
  • Safely operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment in accordance with safety standards.
  • Clean and maintain public restrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and back-of-house areas.
  • Empty trash and remove soiled linens from housekeeping carts and guest rooms as assigned.
  • Restock housekeeping supplies and assist with supply organization.
  • Move furniture and assist with special cleaning projects as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of interior public spaces in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Respond courteously to guest questions and provide assistance as needed.
  • Follow all hotel safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns immediately.
