About The Position

The Houseman / Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the hotel's public areas, guest hallways, service areas, and linen closets. This part-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring a pleasant environment for guests and supports the housekeeping team in various tasks.

Responsibilities

• Clean guest hallways (corridors), public areas, service areas, and linen closets.
• Empty room attendant's trash and linen bags.
• Deposit linen in the linen chute or deliver to the laundry room via the service elevator.
• Remove and deliver trash to the dumpster.
• Vacuum all guest hallways and/or guest rooms as needed.
• Deliver rollaway beds and cribs to guest rooms as needed.
• Assist with turning (rotating) mattresses as required by the Housekeeping Manager.
• Stock supplies needed in all linen closets.
• Sweep and mop or vacuum service landing areas.
• Sweep and mop all vending machine areas and keep machines clean.
• Check and clean all public restrooms several times daily.
• Check each floor to ensure all fire doors are open and properly secured to magnets.
• Check elevators for cleanliness several times daily.
• Assist with luggage handling if requested by management.
• Clean rooms when needed or if housekeeping is short-staffed.
• Check lights and change light bulbs as needed.
• Patrol and maintain outside entrance door area and grounds daily.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and proper storage as needed.
• Become familiar with the hotel's safety policies and emergency procedures, including emergency evacuation procedures.
• Become familiar with accident prevention policies, including OSHA-related chemical handling.
