Summary: The Houseman plays a key role in delivering an exceptional resident and guest experience by ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and readiness of all interior and exterior community spaces. This position supports both Environmental Services and Facilities by maintaining high-touch public areas, assisting with event set-ups, and providing operational support that enhances comfort and functionality throughout the community. The Houseman upholds luxury hospitality standards in every interaction and task, contributing to a warm, seamless, and well-maintained environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to uphold our core values and follow policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to take initiative to always find a way to say yes to both our residents and staff.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, have reliable transportation, and be on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Most importantly, have a positive attitude and be able to smile at all times (even under a mask).
  • 10th-grade education, HS Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate floor-care machinery and housekeeping equipment.
  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to lift, move, or transport furniture and equipment safely and with proper technique.
  • Professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and a resident-first mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality, hotel housekeeping/houseman services, facilities support, or senior living preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all safety protocols, infection-control procedures, and emergency preparedness guidelines.
  • Complies with community policies regarding accident/incident reporting and participates in required safety trainings.
  • Reports damages, missing items, equipment failures, or safety hazards to the Director of Facility Services or Lead Housekeeper immediately.
  • Sweeps, mops, strips, and waxes floors; performs scheduled and as-needed carpet cleaning.
  • Washes windows, glass doors, partitions, and mirrors throughout the community.
  • Cleans and maintains housekeeping and floor-care equipment, ensuring items are in proper working condition.
  • Empties interior and exterior trash receptacles and maintains waste rooms, compactors, and recycling areas to impeccable standards.
  • Prepares trash compactors and recycling bins for vendor pick-up following established timing and procedures.
  • Performs annual and seasonal deep cleanings in residential apartments and community spaces.
  • Assists with event set-up and breakdown including furniture placement, staging, décor, and equipment movement.
  • Ensures event areas, meeting rooms, and multipurpose spaces are consistently clean, organized, and ready for use.
  • Responds promptly to special housekeeping or facilities requests from residents, staff, and the hospitality team.
  • Assists with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies to and from Healthcare, Independent Living, or resident apartments as required.
  • Supports snow and ice removal efforts, including salting walkways and clearing entrances as needed during inclement weather.
  • Monitors common-area conditions and proactively addresses light cleaning needs, spills, or clutter throughout the day.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance and Housekeeping to ensure seamless coordination of daily operations.
  • Communicates professionally with residents, families, coworkers, and external partners.
  • Adapts to changing priorities and assists other departments when needed.
  • Performs other duties, projects, or special assignments as requested.
