The Houseman position in housekeeping is a full-time role that involves maintaining cleanliness and order in public areas of the hotel according to established standards. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to perform various cleaning tasks efficiently. The Houseman will be responsible for removing dirty linens, towels, and trash from guest rooms, as well as moving furniture as necessary to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for guests. The role also includes loading and unloading linen carts, which may require bending and reaching, as well as lifting linen bundles weighing approximately 7 pounds. The Houseman will walk extensively throughout the hotel, moving between the employee entrance, the Housekeeping Department, and assigned stations. In addition to cleaning duties, the Houseman is expected to provide superior customer service, adhering to the Thoughtful Service Model. This involves positively engaging with customers and co-workers, demonstrating resilience in dealing with difficult situations, and maintaining a harmonious work environment. The Houseman must ensure that housekeeping carts and storerooms are well-stocked with necessary supplies, complying with departmental standards and policies. Adherence to company policies and procedures is essential, and the Houseman may also be required to perform additional housekeeping duties as assigned. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities, but it is crucial for the Houseman to be knowledgeable about all company policies, including fire and safety regulations. Regular attendance is required, and the role may involve overtime as needed. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with six months to one year of related experience in a casino or similar environment. Basic computer knowledge is preferred, and the ability to communicate effectively in English is essential. The Houseman must also possess the necessary regional gaming card(s) and/or licenses, if applicable.
