About The Position

We're currently searching for a Housekeeping Worker to join Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. This position attends to Custodial Operation needs by ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in the SECL facilities. In addition, it maintains established standards of cleanliness and sanitation in student lounges, offices, lobbies, stairs, restrooms, showers, windows, and other venues as assigned. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, gathering and removal of trash, snow and ice removal from entranceways and sidewalks, raking leaves, and gathering trash from areas near buildings. Here's what you need to know about the role: 1) You'll be joining the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team: a department centered on uplifting the student experience by cultivating affirming environments, promoting holistic well-being, and providing exceptional services, programs, and facilities. 2) You'll report to the Housekeeping Supervisor. This is a regular, full-time, 100% staff appointment. 3) You'll be primarily responsible for maintaining and replenishing supplies in assigned areas, as well as report any facility repairs or needs to management. You'll operate powered and manual cleaning equipment; mix chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines; and be responsible for the care and handling of Custodial Operations supplies, equipment, and assigned keys. Occasionally supports Event Operations Staff in the preparation of events scheduled in reservable spaces in SECL facilities. 4) You'll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division. 5) You'll be offered a base compensation package starting at $$33,280 - $36,502 along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Requirements

Excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors at a large university campus facility.
Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods.
Ability to work independently with little supervision
safely mix chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines
operate both manual and electrically powered cleaning equipment.
