About The Position

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for performing and managing the team to clean all buildings and outdoor event spaces prior to opening, throughout the day, and before and after events. Duties include disposing of trash, deep cleaning public restrooms, cleaning windows, dusting, cobweb removal, stocking facilities with toiletries, safely handling and using cleaning chemicals, and ensuring that all areas are properly cleaned daily. The Supervisor reports to the Garden Facilities and Services Manager and will be responsible for the creation and management of the schedule for general housekeeping duties that addresses daily, weekly, and long-term cleaning activities. This position requires dedication to maintaining the public areas of the Garden at world-class standards. The Supervisor must be comfortable working around large numbers of people and meeting the demands of high usage. This position will be responsible for maintaining the necessary inventory for housekeeping consumables and toiletry items. The Garden is open 7 days a week. This position is required to work one weekend day, preferably Saturdays. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  • At least one year of supervisory or lead experience
  • At least one year of housekeeping experience in a large campus environment with multiple structures.
  • Knowledge of proper facilities cleaning techniques
  • Ability to maintain necessary inventory for housekeeping consumables and toiletry items
  • Ability to lead and train staff

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of housekeeping experience in a large campus environment
  • At least three years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in a botanical garden or museum setting
