About The Position

Works with Infection Control to provide leadership, direction, and supervision to housekeeping staff, laundry staff, and janitors. Coordinates, supervises, and participates in activities of the department to clean, disinfect, deodorize, and polish interior rooms, floors, walls, hallways, restrooms, medical equipment, and laundry within the facility. This position is a "working Supervisory role". Part of the position is working with the staff in a supervisory role, and also picking up shifts as a housekeeper.

Requirements

  • Pays close attention to detail.

  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Understanding and following written and verbal communications:
  • Ability to assist in problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Understanding of difference between visibly clean and microscopically clean.
  • Ability to rotate shifts and days off as required to perform assignments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of clients.
  • Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions in client areas.
  • Time management skills and ability to work efficiently.
  • Knowledge and experience in housekeeping operations, laundry operations, medical equipment cleaning, isolation procedures, biohazardous waste procedures, scheduling, and payroll.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Three years’ experience, preferably in a healthcare or hotel housekeeping or laundry setting.
  • Supervisory skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and supervision to EVS Department as a hands-on working individual.
  • Assigns work duties and performs inspections of their work throughout the shift for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
  • Provides performance feedback and counseling for EVS team as needed.
  • Conducts training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of stock to ensure adequate supplies and orders supplies when needed.
  • Provides planning, completion, and monitoring of departmental projects. (Spring cleaning, carpet shampooing, non-critical areas, etc.)
  • Identifies, recommends, develops, and implements new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and /or cost savings.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships within the department and with other departments; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees; support team to reach common goals. Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Attend any formal training/education to improve and/or advance position skills.
  • Report any non-compliance with all Local, State and Federal regulations to Infection Control.
  • Collect and properly dispose of waste materials, hazardous materials, and recycling, Orders biohazard supplies as needed.
  • Performs and instructs in the use of appropriate personal protective equipment when needed.
  • Follow all infection control measures implemented by the facility.
  • Respond to requests from other departments promptly and courteously.
  • Maintains EVS files of all housekeeping paperwork including but not limited to: Daily Room Cleaning Sheets, Terminal Cleaning Checklist, Biohazard Rounding Logs, Dryer Cleaning Logs, etc.
  • Performs and instructs in the use of floor scrubber, carpet shampooer, and vacuum as needed.
  • Learn how and when to use the UV Lighting procedure including the UV Light Safety Kit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Infection Control.
  • Provides scheduling and payroll for all EVS employees.
  • Maintains all Biohazard pickup manifests, orders biohazard supplies, schedules biohazard pickups for Medical Waste and Pharmaceutical Waste.
  • Completes yearly update of Department binders on the KHA online SDS website. Distributes updated SDS lists to each department. Also is Responsible for adding any new SDS lists to the KHA system and to the hard copies at reception desk and in the Laundry room.
  • Attend OPS meetings: EOC, QAPI and Management Updates Meeting, and any others that may be required.
