About The Position

The Housekeeper within a long-term care facility is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and clean environment free of obstacles and odors. This role is essential in ensuring that all public and common areas, as well as resident rooms and bathrooms, are kept clean and sanitary throughout the day.

Requirements

• Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working in a long-term care facility preferred.
• Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.
• Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all public and common areas including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors.
• Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.
• Ensure handrails are clean and free of debris.
• Clean and remove dust, dirt, or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and towel dispensers.
• Empty trash cans and replace liners.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of residents.
• Use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following user manual instructions.
• Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean, and orderly manner.
• Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns.
• Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need replenishing.
• Exhibit excellent customer skills and a positive attitude.
• Demonstrate excellent time-management skills.
• Work independently or as part of a team.
