About The Position

Supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s impact. This position handles the cleanliness, physical appearance, and appeal of the YMCA facility. Keep the building in clean and orderly conditions. Perform cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Requirements

Two years of prior experience in housekeeping/cleaning
Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and products.

Nice To Haves

5+ years working in an industrial cleaning setting preferred.
Proficient in inventory stocking and tracking is preferred.
Knowledge of computers with skills in pricing and ordering supplies online is preferred.

Responsibilities

Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responding to all member and community inquiries promptly.
Physical upkeep of the property /custodial duties.
Perform routine cleaning of the interior of the building. Complete work on written checklist daily
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuum floors using cleaning solutions, tools, and equipment.
Empty trash bins, service, cleaning, and supplying restrooms.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures, walls, machines, and equipment.
Clean windows and mirrors, cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Performs the necessary room for set-ups for scheduled meetings.
Notify managers concerning the need for repairs.
Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
Request supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administrator.
