About The Position

The Housekeeping Manager at Candlewood Suites Hattiesburg is responsible for leading all aspects of the housekeeping department while upholding the brand standards of IHG and delivering an exceptional experience for our extended-stay guests. This position plays a critical role in creating a clean, comfortable, and welcoming “home away from home” through strong leadership, attention to detail, and a culture of teamwork and service excellence.

Requirements

  • Previous housekeeping supervisory or management experience required; hotel or extended-stay experience strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to high standards
  • Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of inventory control, scheduling, and basic budgeting
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as required in a hands-on management role
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, motivate, and develop the housekeeping team, fostering a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
  • Build strong team morale through coaching, recognition, and clear communication
  • Oversee daily housekeeping operations, including room cleaning, public areas, laundry, and back-of-house spaces
  • Conduct detailed inspections of guest rooms and common areas to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and maintenance are consistently met
  • Ensure adherence to Candlewood Suites and IHG brand standards, policies, and procedures
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage while controlling labor costs
  • Manage inventory of housekeeping supplies, linens, and amenities; order supplies as needed while maintaining budget controls
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager, front desk, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations and quick resolution of guest concerns
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, feedback, and service recovery situations, with a focus on long-term guest satisfaction
  • Maintain a strong focus on detail, ensuring rooms are not only clean but thoughtfully prepared for extended-stay comfort
  • Train team members on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and guest service expectations
  • Monitor and support compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary
  • Understand the unique needs of extended-stay guests and ensure consistency, privacy, and comfort throughout their stay
  • Encourage team members to take pride in their work and recognize how their role directly impacts guest satisfaction and loyalty
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience through cleanliness, organization, and attention to personal details
