About the position

The Housekeeping EVS Associate plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the hospital environment. This position involves cleaning, sanitizing, and ensuring that all areas of the facility are aesthetically pleasing and safe for patients, visitors, and staff. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall health care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures.
• Empty hampers and transport soiled linen; empty trash containers and remove all trash; empty all medical waste containers, including sharps.
• Inventory, restock, and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in all assigned areas of the facility.
• Maintain cleanliness of departmental equipment and notify appropriate personnel for necessary repairs; protect equipment from damage by proper use.
• Perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
• Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors, meeting or exceeding goals for customer service satisfaction.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
• Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
• Effective communication skills, both verbally and by phone.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous related experience in environmental services or a similar role.
• Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
