About The Position

This position involves cleaning and maintaining assigned areas within the hospital, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff. The role includes a variety of cleaning tasks such as washing furniture, tiles, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal solutions, as well as cleaning walls, doors, ceilings, and windows. The individual will also be responsible for stripping and making patient beds, sweeping and mopping floors, and vacuuming carpets. The position requires adherence to departmental procedures for cleaning in outpatient and sterile processing areas, and the completion of all scheduled procedures during the shift without compromising quality. Additionally, the role involves waste collection and sanitation, including hazardous waste, and may require climbing ladders to reach high areas for cleaning purposes. The individual will also assist in arranging furniture for meetings and community events.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.
  • Ability to read and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations.
  • Ability to utilize proper personal protective equipment.
  • Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions.
  • Cleans walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, televisions, and windows; strips and makes patient beds, sweeps and mops hard floors, and vacuums carpet.
  • Cleans in outpatient and sterile processing using proper cleaning solutions as prescribed by departmental procedures.
  • Completes all procedures scheduled during the shift without sacrificing the quality of work.
  • Completes work left from previous shifts and reports all incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of procedures.
  • Collects waste from all areas of the hospital and sanitizes all waste cans.
  • Collects soiled linen and hazardous waste as established by the Infection Control Committee.
  • Climbs ladder to hang cubicles, window drapes, or reach high areas for cleaning purposes.
  • Arranges furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs.
