About The Position

The Housekeeping / Custodial Team Member (Part-Time) is a steward of the interior environments that support one of the most sustainable cultural institutions in the world. This role contributes to the daily care, safety, and readiness of public, staff, and back-of-house spaces, ensuring that interior environments are clean, healthy, and welcoming for visitors and employees. More than routine cleaning, this position plays an important role in operational readiness and visitor experience. Through consistent attention to detail, adherence to established standards, and collaboration with the Facilities and Environmental Services teams, the Environmental Services Technician helps maintain interior spaces that function as an integral part of the Library’s mission and sustainability commitments. Working under the direction of the Manager of Facilitie and Infrastructure, this role supports daily operations, events, and seasonal needs, providing flexible coverage while upholding the same expectations for stewardship, safety, and professionalism as full-time Environmental Services staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout assigned shifts
  • Ability to lift and carry up to30 pounds
  • Comfort working in both public-facing and back-of-house indoor environments
  • Ability toproperly userequired personal protective equipment (PPE)in accordance withsafety protocols
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on operational scheduling
  • Part-time, hourly (non-exempt) position
  • Onsite work location in Medora, North Dakota
  • No housing provided

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previouscleaning, custodial, or environmental services experience helpful but notrequired
  • On-the-job training will be provided

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of public, staff, and back-of-house spaces, including restrooms, galleries, offices, andcommon areas
  • Maintain interior spaces in a clean, orderly, and visitor-ready condition during assigned shifts
  • Restock consumables such as paper products, soap, and supplies as needed
  • Support opening, closing, and event readiness activities as assigned
  • Follow established cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and chemical handling guidelines
  • Use cleaning products and methods consistent with sustainability and stewardship standards
  • Identifyand report spills, hazards, maintenance issues, or unusual conditions promptly
  • Support a safe and healthy indoor environment for visitors, staff, and collections
  • Work collaboratively with Environmental Services, Facilities, and Operations staff to support daily activities
  • Assistwith event setup, reset, or post-event cleaning as needed
  • Support cross-team response during peak visitor periods, weather events, or special programs as directed
  • Communicate clearly with supervisorsregardingcompleted work andobservedissues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
